• a significant fold on the lateral surface of the brain's temporal lobe. It sits between the superior temporal gyrus (above) and the inferior temporal gyrus (below) and roughly corresponds to Brodmann area. Acts as a critical multimodal hub. Because it bridges visual and auditory processing streams, it supports several complex brain functions
