ventilator associated pneumonia(English)
- among the most frequently occurring infections in critically ill patients, and its development is associated with poor patient prognosis. Commonly found in brain-injured patients due to the alteration of the level of consciousness and inhalations or even micro-inhalations. Risk factors in brain-injured patients have been identified such as the use of barbiturates, nasal carriage of Staphylococcus aureus, gastric aspiration before intubation, therapeutic hypothermia and severe thoracic lesions
