RNA-induced silencing complex(English)
- in most eukaryotes, RNAi is one of several mechanisms that silence the expression of specific genes in response to double-stranded RNA. Within cells, the dsRNA silencing triggers are cleaved into 21- to 23-nucleotide short interfering RNA fragments. These fragments then associate with a large protein assembly called the RNA-induced silencing complex. An siRNA within RISC recognizes specific messenger RNAs through base pairing, and in this way guides RISC to the appropriate targets
