PS

There are multiple definitions:

  1. phosphatidylserine(English)

    • a phospholipid and a component of the cell membrane, playing a key role in cell cycle signaling, specifically in relation to apoptosis

  12. postural stability(English)

    • one of the most crucial elements in bipedal locomotion. Bipeds are dynamically unstable and need to maintain their trunk upright against the rotations induced by the GRFs, especially when running. Gait studies report that the GRF vectors focus around a virtual point above the centre of mass, while the trunk moves forward in pitch axis during the stance phase of human running

  13. photosensitizer(English)

    • first type introduced by Dougherty was a water-soluble mixture of porphyrins that was named ‘hematoporphyrin derivative’ (HpD), and a more purified preparation later became known as photofrin. Since then medicinal chemists synthesized and discovered molecules that could act as improved PSs, and several hundred compounds have now been proposed as potentially useful to mediate PDT for tackling cancer, infections and many other diseases. Targeted PDT uses PSs conjugated to antibodies, peptides, proteins and other ligands with specific cellular receptors. Nanotechnology has made a significant contribution to PDT, giving rise to approaches such as nanoparticle delivery, fullerene-based PSs, titania photocatalysis, and the use of upconverting nanoparticles to increase light penetration into tissue
