chromogranin A(English)
- present in normal human adrenal chromaffin vesicles, and coreleased with catecholamines. Secreted in cardiac neuroendocrine granules to limit effects of sympathetic overactivity. It is a precursor to catestatin, which exerts cardioprotective effects. Chromogranin-A and catestatin reduces mitochondrial generation of reactive oxygen species, attenuates hypertrophy, and prevents apoptosis in cardiomyocytes under stress
