CaMBP

calmodulin binding protein(English)

  • calmodulin is the most conserved and well-studied calcium-binding protein associated with cilia and flagella, plays a major role in modulating dynein activity and is associated with at least three axonemal structures including the radial spoke stalk, and the C1 microtubule of the central apparatus. Binding of calmodulin to specific axonemal proteins is dependent upon intraflagellar calcium concentration; for example, calmodulin binds to CaM-IP2 (FAP91) in low calcium concentrations and to FAP221 in high calcium concentrations
