compressed air energy storage(English)
- a technology for grid-scale storage. During periods of abundant power, air is pumped under pressure into an underground reservoir. When power is needed, the compressed air is pulled out and mixed with natural gas to power a gas turbine. The only U.S. example is a 110 MW underground facility built in Alabama in 1991
