• a noninvasive method used to measure basal cerebral artery blood flow as well as microvascular tone, endothelial function, and blood flow resistance and impedance. Has the ability to detect cerebral microembolism, which has been demonstrated in 15% of SLE patients. Results in SLE patients with and without NP symptoms have been conflicting, notably in patients with antiphospholipid antibodies and valvular heart disease
