Powassan virus(English)

• this virus circulates in parts of the USA, Canada, and Far Eastern Russia, and is by serologic tests readily differentiated from the other tick-transmitted virus species. It causes severe encephalitis in humans with a high incidence of neurologic sequelae and up to 60% case-fatality rate. Latent infection and milk-borne transmission in goats has been demonstrated experimentally
