plasminogen(English)

  • a 92 kDa glycoprotein consisting of 791 amino acids, and composed of five kringle domains followed by a serine protease domain that can be cleaved by either tissue-type plasminogen activator (TPA) or urokinase plasminogen activator (UPA) to yield the active fibrinolytic enzyme plasmin. It is primarily produced by the liver. Plasminogen circulates in blood as a zymogen
