    • a clinical form of aggressive periodontal inflammation during childhood or adolescence, with rapid alveolar bone loss, tooth mobility, and tooth loss. The process usually involves the first molars and incisors teeth of an otherwise healthy adolescent. Epidemiological evidence estimates that LAP affects 0.1–7.6% of children and adolescents worldwide. Although a single monogenetic defect was not described so far, it was reported that it is linked to human chromosome 1q25 or chromosome 11q14. The latter overlaps a region containing the CTSC gene
