There are multiple definitions:

  1. ureteroscopy(English)

    • minimally invasive procedure offering high quality digital optics providing very accurate assessment of stones and mucosal lesions. Can be performed as a day case procedure. Common complication include mucosal or ureteric injury (1.5%-1.7%), post-operative fever (1.8%), urosepsis, haematuria, ureteral stricture (0.1%) and persistent vesicoureteric reflux (0.1%). Increasingly ageing population, rising obesity, poor dietary habits and lack of adequate fluid intake lead to a rise in the incidence of renal and ureteric calculi. A cascade of metabolic changes during pregnancy may be associated with an increased likelihood of stone formation, particularly in the second and third trimester
