uromodulin(English)
- a major regulator renal tubular sodium transport, and it acts to suppress renal inflammation. promotes sodium reabsorption in the thick ascending limb of the loop of Henle. Acts as a trap for proinflammatory renal cytokines; loss-of-function mutations lead to mitochondrial dysfunction and chronic kidney disease
