- a highly abundant, conserved, 8-stranded -barrel protein in the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria. It acts as a structural anchor connecting the membrane to the peptidoglycan layer, plays a key role in bacterial adhesion, invasion, biofilm formation, and acts as a receptor for bacteriocins/phages. Also denoted as OmpA
