hyperhomocysteinemia(English)

• elevated plasma levels of homocysteine increase the risk for atherosclerosis, stroke, myocardial infarction, possibly Alzheimer's disease, cognitive impairment in the elderly, birth defects in pregnant women, and all-cause mortality. Besides, hyperhomocysteinemia may induce changes in DNA that may result in procarcinogenic effects
