DNA methyltransferase 3A(English)
- one of two de novo methyltransferases that can methylate both unmethylated and hemimethylated cytosines. Mutations of DNMT3A were first identified in patients with AML and subsequently MDS and have been associated with poorer prognosis in both malignancies. These mutations are heterozygous and although they can be found in almost any part of the open reading frame of DNMT3A, the majority of these mutations are missense mutations that cluster at the methyltransferase domain, where they target highly conserved residues
