DDI

There are multiple definitions:

  1. dual pacing plus sensing and inhibited response(English)

  2. drug–drug interaction(English)

    • defined as “alteration in a drug (object drug) effect caused by the concurrent administration of another drug (precipitant)”. Can occur when two or more drugs are co-administered to a patient. This can lead to changed systemic exposure, resulting in variations in drug response of the co-administered drugs, generally occuring due to inhibition of the metabolism for one drug by the other. It leads to a rise in plasma concentration of the drug whose metabolism is inhibited. The therapeutic index of the drug that has increased concentration in plasma could be decreased, leading to adverse reaction or increase in toxicity
