  2. semitendinosus(English)

  3. scala tympani(English)

  4. speckle-tracking(English)

  5. sinus tachycardia(English)

    • characterized by a sinus P wave at a rate of more than 100 per minute, usually followed by a QRS complex that is mostly narrow (but may be wide in the presence of an underlying BBB). ST is common and ubiquitous during exercise but can occur at rest when associated with any number of conditions. Atrial tachycardia or atrial flutter with 2:1 block may be mistaken for ST but usually does not have distinct upright P waves evident in leads II, III, aVF. ST with first-degree AV block may be difficult to diagnose if the sinus P wave is buried in the T wave. Sinus node reentry tachycardia, generally an uncommon form of supraventricular tachycardia, can mimic ST in P-wave morphology. Consider carotid sinus massage or adenosine to distinguish sinus node reentry tachycardia (which will usually terminate) from ST (which will only slow without terminating

  7. syncytiotrophoblast(English)

    • the main source of HCG production during pregnancy. The placenta is a transient organ necessary for implantation, adaptation of the mother to pregnancy, fetal development and growth, and pregnancy outcome. The human placenta is characterized by extensive invasion of uterus wall by the trophoblast, allowing direct contact of cytotrophoblasts with maternal blood (hemochorial placenta), by remodeling of uterine vasculature, and by the extent and specificity of its hormonal production. Chorionic villi represent the structural and functional unit of the human placenta and are bathed in maternal blood via the spiral arteries. After the initial phase of nidation, human trophoblasts differentiate along either the villous or EVT pathway
