growth differentiation factor 15(English)
- an appetite-regulating hormone with a brainstem-restricted receptor, the GDNF family receptor α-like (GFRAL). An increased level of this factor is strongly associated with an increased composite risk of all-cause mortality and heart failure hospitalization after admission for acute heart failure, independent of multiple biomarkers including NT-proBNP. Has also been demonstrated as a promising prognostic marker, specifically for HFrEF. Is the most important protein used to distinguish three HFrEF phenogroups. Also denoted as GDF15
