empty sella syndrome(English)
- a rare condition in which the sella turcica (the neuroanatomical location of the pituitary gland) is partially or completely filled with cerebrospinal fluid. It is a radiological diagnosis that is often made incidentally following imaging for another reason (e.g., to exclude intracranial hemorrhage following head injury) or as part of the work-up when investigating a patient's neurological symptoms. Can be classified as primary or secondary, depending on the identification of underlying etiologies; aka empty sella turcica

Epworth sleepiness scale(English)
- one of the most commonly used questionnaires in sleep clinics for assessment of daytime sleepiness. The score correlates with measures of sleep-disordered breathing and is more likely to be elevated in individuals with sleep disorders. However, this score does not have either a high sensitivity or a high specificity for OSA. An ESS score <10 (out of 24) does not rule out OSA

European Social Survey(English)
- an academically driven cross-national survey that has been conducted across Europe since its establishment in 2001. Every two years, face-to-face interviews are conducted with newly selected, cross-sectional samples. The survey measures the attitudes, beliefs and behavior patterns of diverse populations in more than thirty nations. The main aims are: to chart stability and change in social structure, conditions and attitudes in Europe and to interpret how Europe’s social, political and moral fabric is changing; to achieve and spread higher standards of rigor in cross-national research in the social sciences, including for example, questionnaire design and pre-testing, sampling, data collection, reduction of bias and the reliability of questions; to introduce soundly-based indicators of national progress, based on citizens’ perceptions and judgements of key aspects of their societies; to undertake and facilitate the training of European social researchers in comparative quantitative measurement and analysis; to improve the visibility and outreach of data on social change among academics, policy makers and the wider public

- refers to changes in thyroid function tests that were administered in the inpatient or intensive care setting during critical illness. It is not a true syndrome, and transient alterations in the hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid axis are present in about 75 percent of hospitalized patients. This condition is often seen in patients with severe critical illness, deprivation of calories, and following major surgeries. The most common hormone pattern in euthyroid sick syndrome is a low total T3 and free T3 levels with low or normal T4 and TSH levels. Also known as nonthyroidal illness syndrome
