enteroenteric fistula(English)

  • for example ileosigmoid fistula, is often associated with a bowel stricture distal to the primary opening of fistula. If the stricture is far away (>5 cm) from the primary opening of the fistula, gentle balloon dilation of the stricture may be attempted, with the intention to relief the intraluminal pressure and reduce drainage. If the stricture is close to the fistula opening (<5 cm) or nearby abscess, endoscopic dilation should not be performed, to avoid a double bowel perforation at both the ends of fistula
