Cognitive distraction during sexual activity can focus on a variety of concerns and reflects two main thematic areas of concern: performance and body appearance. It was found that men report performance-related thoughts more frequently than women, whereas women report body appearance-related thoughts more frequently than men. Body appearance concerns have a negative impact on sexuality by negatively affecting sexual esteem, sexual assertiveness, sexual pleasure and arousal, orgasm and sexual satisfaction
